Postseason Basketball Begins
McGavock High School is hosting the District 11-4A basketball tournament this weekend. Our girls and boys basketball teams both had a first round bye. The boys will face the winner of today’s game between Overton and McGavock tomorrow at 3:30. The girls will take on Overton tomorrow at 5:00. Tickets are available at GoFan.co. Go, Burros!

Speaking of Burros basketball, congratulations to senior forward Cortez Graham-Howard, who was recently named a Tennessee Mr. Basketball finalist. As the Hillsboro Globe notes, he’s the first Hillsboro player to earn this distinction!

February PTSO Meeting
Our February meeting will be this Wednesday, 2/26, at 6:00 PM in the cafeteria. Let’s cross our fingers that it’ll be warmer by then, and we will see you there!

The Hillsboro Players Present: Urinetown
What happens when water is scarce, and even the privilege to pee comes at a price? Find out in Urinetown: The Musical, a hilarious and thought-provoking dystopian satire brought to life by The Hillsboro Players! This Tony Award-winning show blends comedy, social commentary, and unforgettable music in a tale of rebellion, corruption, and—of course—public restrooms.
Show Dates & Times:
  • February 28th – 7:00 PM
  • March 1st – 2:00 PM & 7:00 PM
  • March 2nd – 4:00 PM
  • March 3rd – 7:00 PM

Don’t miss this wickedly funny and timely musical! Tickets are on sale now at www.hillsboroplayers.com! Join us for a night of laughter, revolution, and a little bit of potty humor.

Boys Track Tryouts Rescheduled
Due to inclement weather, boys track tryouts will be held next week, on February 25, 26, and 27.

Interested in Joining the National Honor Society?
Sophomores and juniors with a minimum 3.5 GPA and a good conduct record are invited to apply for membership in the National Honor Society. For more information, contact Mr. Nettles (joseph.nettles@mnps.org).

Sage Refill Market Fundraiser Day
On Saturday, March 1 (that’s one week from tomorrow), head over to Sage Refill Market, a true gem of a neighborhood shop that carries a lovely selection of household goods, personal care items, and gifts. Thanks to the generosity of the owners (former Hillsboro parents!), the store will be donating 15% of sales that day to Hillsboro! Sage is located at 1214 Wedgewood Avenue, across from Belmont. Check them out!

Teacher Appreciation Trail Mix Bar: Donations Needed
Hey parents – here’s a simple and much-appreciated way to show faculty and staff a little healthy love in March! Sign up HERE to contribute to a Trail Mix buffet that will give teachers a little pick-me-up on Wednesday, March 5, just before Spring Break. Bring in your contributions by 9 AM on March 5. We also need help setting up and managing the trail mix bar during the lunch period, so if you can make time, there’s a place to sign up for that as well. Thanks!

Boot Camp/ACT for Juniors
The ACT boot camp for juniors that was scheduled for tomorrow has been moved to Saturday, March 22, 8:00 AM-2:00 PM (registration for this event has passed; if you have questions, please contact Dr. Carter in the ATLAS office at susan.carter@mnps.org). The actual ACT exam will be administered during the school day on March 25, 2025, to all juniors.

ISR Students Present Research at Regional Symposium
Last Friday, February 14, a group of AGHS ISR students traveled to Knoxville to attend and present their original scientific research at the Tennessee Junior Science and Humanities Symposium.

Sunrise Shoutout
Shout out to the Hillsboro Sunrise club for their hard work on tree mulch remediation to save existing trees on Hillsboro’s campus!  Their work, and the addition of 70 new trees planted last month, will create a beautiful tree canopy on our campus for years to come.

Parent Volunteers Needed to Lead School Tours
The school options application (aka “lottery”) process for the 2025-2026 school year is underway, which means there will be an uptick in families wanting to see what Hillsboro has to offer. We have openings for parent tour guides on several Saturday mornings between now and April 19th. Click HERE to sign up. And be sure to let interested families know they can sign up for tours at wearehillsboro.com/tours!

Summer 2026 Italy Trip
Mrs. Banks is taking a group of students to Italy in May of 2026. Parents are also welcome to travel. If you enroll by February 28th, you will receive $300 off your enrollment! If you are interested or have any questions, please email Mrs. Banks at lesa.banks@mnps.org. Please note: this is not a school-sponsored trip.
