Time for Burro Bash!
Come on out and celebrate the start of another great year at Hillsboro from 4:30 to 6:30 PM TODAY, and then stick around to watch the Burros take on Overton (tickets at gofan.co). Burro Bash will include a clubs fair, games, and other fun surprises. In addition to hot dogs and snacks provided by the PTSO, food trucks will be available: thanks to Smokin' Buttz, The Pepper Pott, and Rolled 4Ever Ice Cream for coming out! We need lots of parent helpers, so please click HERE to sign up for a shift or just come help!

INVEST UPDATE
Thanks to the families who have already donated, we are currently at about $20K. That's one-fifth of the way to our goal, and it's a great start. But we need to keep going! Remember that INVEST donations fund almost everything the PTSO does at Hillsboro, and we do A LOT! Just take a look at the INVEST emails that are going out during the campaign to get an idea of what your dollars can do. Want to go ahead and make your donation today before the holiday weekend hits? Click
HERE, and thank you!

Concessions Volunteers Needed

Fall sports are in swing and we need helping hands at the concession stands. This is a fun job that is even more fun if you corral some friends and sign up together! Click HERE if you can help! We also need team leads for each game. If you are interested or want more information, HERE is the sign up.

Spiritwear Sales Volunteers

The PTSO sells spiritwear during various events, including football games. We need parent volunteers to help with this. If you are able, please sign up HERE!

Prospective Family (and Alumni) Tours

Want to help show off our beautiful building and campus to prospective families? Click HERE to sign up and help us give tours on Saturday mornings throughout the fall. And be sure to let interested families know they can sign up for tours at wearehillsboro.com/tours!

Academy/Pathway Parent Meetings

IBDP coordinator Kelley Carr will be hosting two upcoming meetings for parents of juniors and seniors in the CP, DP, and STEM pathways. Ms. Carr will be presenting information about the programs and give parents a chance to ask any questions they may have.

  • IBCP/STEM meeting: September 4 at 6:00 PM in the cafeteria
  • IBDP meeting: September 11 at 6:00 PM in the cafeteria

Football Live Stream

Can't make it to the game but want to keep up with the Burros? Listen to the live stream from the Hillsboro A/V department HERE. Click HERE to subscribe to their channel!

Last Day for Juniors to Register for the PSAT/NMSQT

Registration for the PSAT, which is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship program, ends today for juniors. The test will be given at Hillsboro on Saturday, October 26. Students who wish to register must bring $20 in cash to the ATLAS Academy (formerly AIBDP) office. More information about the exam can be found HERE, or scan the QR code on the flyer (full-size version HERE). Ninth and tenth graders who wish to take the test as practice can contact Dr. Carter (susan.carter@mnps.org) beginning September 3 to inquire about available spots.

Reminder: Only Clear Bags and Bottles at Ticketed School Events

A reminder that MNPS has instituted a clear bag policy for all school events at which tickets are sold. Bags must be no more than 12 x 12 x 6 inches. (Clear bags with the Hillsboro Power H can be purchased in the spiritwear booth for $10!) Small clutch purses, no larger than 4.5” x 6.5” (the size of the palm of your hand), with or without a handle or strap, are also allowed but are subject to search at the gate. Also: No opaque water bottles will be allowed (no insulated bottles like Stanley or Owalla), and no juice boxes or pouches.

Stock the Supply Closets

Please consider purchasing supplies from the PTSO's Amazon wish list to help our teachers stock their classrooms and avoid having to buy items with their own money. Click HERE to view the list. You can have items shipped directly to the school (choose Hillsboro's address during checkout), or you can drop supplies off in the front office if you prefer.

Friday Cookie Table
Cookie Fridays are one of Hillsboro's most beloved traditions. A few times a month, parents stand at a table during lunch and hand out baked treats. The "price" of a cookie? Students must tell a good thing about their day or their week. We hear all kinds of good things: my older brother is home from college this weekend, I got a 100 on my math test, I got my driver's license, etc. If you would like to participate in this wonderful tradition by either handing out cookies or baking (or buying) them and sending them into the office, sign up HERE (to give everyone a chance, please sign up to hand out cookies no more than twice per semester).
