Exam Schedule
First semester exams will be happening Tuesday, December 13, through Friday, December 16, according to the schedule below. These will be half days, with dismissal at 10:35. There is no homeroom on these days; exams begin promptly at 7:05.

Additional information about exams:
- Exams
- Exams are to be taken at the scheduled time. Board policy does not allow for taking exams early.
- If a student misses an exam, they receive the lowest grade possible (50). Students have until the end of the following grading period (end of third quarter) to make up this exam. Students should contact teachers about making up missing exams.
- Cheating on an exam will result in the lowest possible grade according to grading policy (50).
- Retakes are not allowed on semester exams.
- Exams count for 20% of the overall grade for the semester (the first and second quarter grades are each 40% of the overall grade).
- Attendance
- Exam days are half days. School starts at our normal time, and we dismiss at 10:35 AM.
- We will provide breakfast on exam days but no lunch.
- Early dismissal on exam days is not allowed. Seniors who are present for their first exam but are exempt from the second exam may sign out during the break between the first and second exam each day.
- Exemptions
- Board policy allows for seniors who have met the district criteria to be exempt from exams.
- Only seniors are eligible for exemptions.
- Exemptions are calculated on a class-by-class basis.
- Seniors qualifying for exemptions will be notified by their teacher on the last day prior to exams (12/9 and 12/12).
- Seniors who are exercising the exemption option are marked as Excused Absent for that period.
- For specifics on criteria refer to Board Policy IM 4.600.
Staff, Students, and Families Invited to Film Screening at Hillsboro

MNPS students, families and educators from across the district are invited to a film screening and panel discussion at Hillsboro on Thursday, November 17, centered on the new documentary Hiding in Plain Sight: Youth Mental Illness, produced by Ken Burns. MNPS and Nashville Public Television will host the event from 6:00 to 7:30 PM (refreshments will be served starting at 5 PM, with doors to the auditorium opening at 5:30). A portion of the film will be shown before the panelists, including MNPS Director of Social Work and Trauma Informed Schools Dr. Monica Coverson, talk about some of the issues it raises and the best ways to support students. Homecoming week is here! SGA has shared the spirit week days, and in case you aren’t on social media, here they are:

- Thursday: Soccer Mom vs BBQ Dad
- Friday: Decades Day (9th: 70s, 10th: 80s, 11th: 90s, 12th: 2000s)
Get hyped for the game on Friday by joining us for the homecoming tailgate from 4:30 to 6 PM. Enjoy free hot dogs and chips or bring your own food and tailgate setup.

The homecoming dance is Saturday, October 22, from 6:30 to 10 and is for Hillsboro students only. Spots are limited due to the capacity of the gym, so avoid disappointment by buying tickets now HERE.
