Update on Yard Sale & Festival (4/12/2019)
Tomorrow’s Heart of Green Hills Spring Festival & Community Yard Sale is a GO from 9 AM to 2 PM, rain or shine! If it’s dry, we’ll be out in front of the school; if not, we’ll move inside or under cover. Here’s some information to help you get ready for the big day: VISITOR PARKING: Please enter off Richard Jones Road (look for the American Constructors sign) and park along the south side of the main building (the purple areas on this map: https://wearehillsboro.com/campus-parking-traffic map). YARD SALE: Donations to the yard sale will be accepted TODAY (Friday, April 12) from 3 to 6 PM in front of the school. If you are planning to sell your own stuff tomorrow, we would appreciate it if you would pre-register here. However, sellers can just show up tomorrow around 8 AM. We will collect the $25 fee at that time and show you where to set up. Goodwill will be hand to collect any unsold items that you wish to donate to them. FESTIVAL INFO: Other activities include health screenings, a blood drive, and a prescription drug take-back (safe disposal of unused medications to prevent drug abuse/overdose and keep our waterways clean). There will also be food trucks and a kids’ zone. And it’s the grand opening of The Flower Basket, the seasonal plant retailer that sprouts up on our campus every spring with a great selection of hanging flower baskets, flowering annuals, tropicals, herbs, and ferns. Think dry thoughts and see you tomorrow!

Did you hear the Curious Nashville segment that aired on Nashville Public Radio last week? The story was in response to a listener-submitted question that somehow we’ve never thought to ask: “How do they change the time on the outside clock at Hillsboro High School?” So how do “they”? Debate Team Season Wrap Up (2/25/2019)

The newly reconstituted Hillsboro debate team participated in the Nashville Urban Debate League’s City Championship tournament at Montgomery Bell Academy last weekend. Shoaib Laghari, Fatima Laghari, Kurt Schelzig, Jared Gamble, Elijah Ikard, Warsame Said, and Lance Obrohta all competed.

Despite their relative lack of experience, the team was seriously competitive in every debate this season, even winning best team in an earlier tournament. Several individuals placed consistently in the top third of all teams, with Kurt Schelzig winning best speaker of the tournament three times. Congratulations to all of these Burros and a huge thank you to AIBDP English teacher Joseph Nettles for coaching the team.
