What is the dress code?
All students will be wearing their green cap and gown; however, students are expected to wear a standard of attire under the robe. Ladies: Please wear a dress (any color), skirt and top, or nice pants and top. Wear comfortable shoes because you will be standing in the tunnel for a while. Young men: Please wear dress pants (grey, khaki, navy, black) and a collared dress shirt (no tee shirts) and tie (long tie or bow tie) as well as dress shoes and socks. Well-kept tennis shoes are acceptable for both ladies and men.

What time should seniors arrive at Allen Arena at Lipscomb for the ceremony?
5:00 p.m.

Is there a rehearsal for graduation and if so, when?
Yes. Mandatory practice is Wednesday morning, May 22, from 8:00 to 10:30 A.M. Students should arrive on time at Lipscomb’s Allen Arena. They do not have to wear their cap and gown for practice; regular school clothes are fine.

How many tickets does each student receive?
Every student is allotted 10 tickets. This applies to every student at every Metro school, regardless of size of class or venue.

When/how will students receive their graduation tickets?
Seniors are receiving their tickets during Senior Checkout. See top story above.

What if we have more than 10 people coming? How do we get additional tickets?
Check with friends to see if anyone has extra tickets. The school is not allowed to give more than 10.

Is seating first come first serve? If so, when will doors open if families want to arrive early to get seats together?
Tickets will be general admission, no assigned seats. Doors will open  at 5:00 pm.

Will there be designated parking at Lipscomb for graduation?
Yes, there is ample parking available in the Lipscomb parking garage and surface lots. See below map.
SENIOR CHECKOUT INFO (MANDATORY IN ORDER TO ATTEND GRADUATION!) (5/14/2024)

Senior Checkout is underway, during lunch in the Community Room and will run through Thursday, May 17.

Seniors must check out in person. They may not send a representative. It must be them. For some this might mean they must return to campus even though they are exempt.

Check out is during lunch in the Community Room by the main office. Seniors must clear these stations:

Credit Check—you have passed all of your classes and have earned all credits needed to graduate
Senior Survey—you have completed all required entries and surveys in Sown To Grow
School Debt/Property—you have cleared all school debt and do not have a hold on any school property
Computer—you have returned (or paid for) your MNPS laptop computer and charger. Please note:
It must be the computer that was signed out to you. We will scan the asset tag to be sure it matches. You can’t just grab a random computer to turn in
You must also have the charging cord.
Replacement for lost or broken items is $200 computer, $15 charger.
Signed Senior Contract
Tickets—you will count out your 10 tickets and sign for them. Treat them like cash/money. If you lose them we don’t replace them. There are no extra tickets. Everyone gets 10.

If you need to pay for fines, senior fees or lost or damaged property we are able to accept cash, money order made out to Hillsboro High School, or credit or debit card through School Cash Online.

Seniors will not participate in Commencement if they have not cleared checkout.

Join us for the second annual Hillsboro High School College Night on October 19, 6:00 to 8:00 PM. We will begin in the cafeteria with representatives from college access organizations and a local university who will give us an overview of admissions and financial aid opportunities. Then we will dismiss to the small gym, where you can visit with colleges and universities to learn more about what they have to offer. You will also have an opportunity to network with HHS parents who have “been there” in terms of navigating the college process, and you can pick up resources from HHS college counselor, Ms. Angela Gilmore! Whether you have a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior, this event will assist with reaching your student’s college aspirations!

If you have experience with the college process or just want to lend a hand, your expertise is needed! Please consider volunteering (sign up HERE) to make this a SUCCESSFUL event for our Hillsboro students and families.

October 17: ACT Testing (Volunteers Needed!) (10/16/2023)

Seniors will take the ACT at school on Tuesday, October 17. Every student in MNPS must take a college entrance exam (either the ACT or SAT) at least once in order to graduate, so if your senior hasn’t taken this test yet, it’s important that they do so. Parents, email Dr. Carter (susan.carter@mnps.org) if you can help with monitoring.
