42 Hillsboro students attended the 4-day Youth-In-Government conference in Nashville. Our students got to stay 3 nights at the Doubletree Hotel in downtown Nashville and work on Capitol Hill, experiencing what its like to be state senators, representatives, lawyers, and gubernatorial candidates. Out of our delegation of 40, 9 students received commendations, as students Sophia Baker, Sark Asadourian, Calvin Fairhead, Mavis Wolff, Eden Torode, Ben Kitchel, Caroline High, Suzanna Wilkinson, and Seamus Purdy won awards for “Outstanding Statesperson” and “Outstanding Bill”, while Avery Roth ran a notable campaign for governor. Additionally, Lucas Carpenter, Dia Abdullah, and Mavis Wolff were elected as officers for next year’s conference. We are so proud of how hard our Youth in Government students worked to stand out among hundreds of other high schoolers from Tennessee. Keep an ear out for information on how to join our Model United Nations conference in the fall!
