News from around school and around the cluster
The Hillsboro AV Department had cameras rolling at these end-of-year events:
Instrumental Music Spring Concert
Vocal Music Spring Concert
Our school-wide end of the year celebration, Burro Bonanza, will be Friday, May 17. We will need lots of volunteers and snacks for this awesome event! Please mark your calendar and sign up HERE to help!
Administering all of the required IB exams at Hillsboro is a huge undertaking! In order to do this in compliance with the rules, there must be a certain number of adult invigilators/proctors in the room for every test. Even if you don’t have a student taking exams, this is a great way to help out if you have time during the school day. It is easy and mostly consists of monitoring students as they work. Please sign up HERE, and thank you!
The PTSO has been working behind the scenes this year on some larger improvements to our building and campus. We now have plans for some beautiful new landscaping AND some graphics and signage for inside the building. Because these capital expenditures are not part of our annual budget for the year, we need to take a vote of the general body before approving them. That’s where you come in, parents (and teachers and students)! We will be holding a special PTSO meeting on Tuesday, April 16, at 6:00 PM to vote on these items. Please make plans to join us!
UPDATE
The slides and FAQs from Dr. Pelham’s March 7 presentation are available to view/download below.
From Dr. Pelham:
As you may have heard, MNPS zoned high schools will be moving to a different type of daily schedule next year that looks different from our 8 period A/B schedule. While there are still many variables that are yet to be finalized, we do have some advanced information we would like to share with families now, and welcome your thoughts and questions. We will have a stakeholder meeting on Thursday, March 7 [NEW DATE], at 6 PM in our cafeteria. Our goal is to share what we know now, solicit questions and thoughts, and publish an FAQ from this. All are welcome.
We are excited to welcome 8th grade families to campus on Thursday, February 8, to learn more about academics, athletics, extracurriculars, community–all the things that make Hillsboro a top-choice high school! We’ll begin at 5:30 with an information session in the cafeteria and then split up into groups for tours. Visitors should use the entrance off Glen Echo Road (north end of campus) and park in the garage.
