Senior Checkout is underway, during lunch in the Community Room and will run through Thursday, May 17.
Seniors must check out in person. They may not send a representative. It must be them. For some this might mean they must return to campus even though they are exempt.
Check out is during lunch in the Community Room by the main office. Seniors must clear these stations:
Credit Check—you have passed all of your classes and have earned all credits needed to graduate
Senior Survey—you have completed all required entries and surveys in Sown To Grow
School Debt/Property—you have cleared all school debt and do not have a hold on any school property
Computer—you have returned (or paid for) your MNPS laptop computer and charger. Please note:
It must be the computer that was signed out to you. We will scan the asset tag to be sure it matches. You can’t just grab a random computer to turn in
You must also have the charging cord.
Replacement for lost or broken items is $200 computer, $15 charger.
Signed Senior Contract
Tickets—you will count out your 10 tickets and sign for them. Treat them like cash/money. If you lose them we don’t replace them. There are no extra tickets. Everyone gets 10.
If you need to pay for fines, senior fees or lost or damaged property we are able to accept cash, money order made out to Hillsboro High School, or credit or debit card through School Cash Online.
Seniors will not participate in Commencement if they have not cleared checkout.
Graduation for the Class of 2024 is set! Save the date of Wednesday, May 22, 6 PM, at Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena. Located just blocks from Hillsboro, this venue has ample parking for all. Later in the spring, there will be more information to share around ticketing, rehearsals, and logistics for the event.
Be sure to order your senior’s cap & gown for graduation! Go to herffjones.com, click on graduation products, select Hillsboro Comp High School, and that will take you to the Hillsboro merchandise page. The cap, gown, and tassel unit is at the bottom of the merchandise page. If you have any questions, contact Pam Richardson at pamela.richardson@mnps.org.
Ray’s BBQ, Gypsy Crepes, and Mag Mile Pizza will bring their trucks to Hillsboro on November 3 during lunch for seniors only! Remember to bring funds!
Food Truck Fridays are only possible with the support of parent volunteers. Sign up here.
Join us for the second annual Hillsboro High School College Night on October 19, 6:00 to 8:00 PM. We will begin in the cafeteria with representatives from college access organizations and a local university who will give us an overview of admissions and financial aid opportunities. Then we will dismiss to the small gym, where you can visit with colleges and universities to learn more about what they have to offer. You will also have an opportunity to network with HHS parents who have “been there” in terms of navigating the college process, and you can pick up resources from HHS college counselor, Ms. Angela Gilmore! Whether you have a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior, this event will assist with reaching your student’s college aspirations!
College Night Volunteers Needed
If you have experience with the college process or just want to lend a hand, your expertise is needed! Please consider volunteering (sign up HERE) to make this a SUCCESSFUL event for our Hillsboro students and families.
Seniors will take the ACT at school on Tuesday, October 17. Every student in MNPS must take a college entrance exam (either the ACT or SAT) at least once in order to graduate, so if your senior hasn’t taken this test yet, it’s important that they do so. Parents, email Dr. Carter (susan.carter@mnps.org) if you can help with monitoring.

Attention Senior families! There are two important events happening this week: First, there is a senior parent meeting this Thursday 9/7 @5:30 PM at school. This is an important meeting where information will be shared about graduation requirements, the college application process, senior dues, and upcoming senior activities. Please plan to attend. Second, on Friday 9/8 we will kick off Senior Food Truck Fridays. These are monthly events for seniors only. All seniors are invited to gather on the front steps of the school (by the auditorium) during lunch. Seniors wishing to purchase items from the food trucks should plan to bring money.
