SENIOR PARENT HELP NEEDED! (2/24/2024)

This is a busy and fun period for our Seniors! But it takes a ton of work to pull it all off. We are asking all Senior parents to volunteer for at least one event. All volunteer needs are found on this Sign-up Genius.

Also, we need some parent leaders to help with several special events. If you are willing to help organize/lead any of the following, please let Shannon Hunt (shunt10@mac.com) or Anne-Marie Farmer (annemariefarmer@hotmail.com) know:

April Ice Cream Bar Coordinator
We need a lead parent to coordinate volunteers, purchase supplies/organize the ice cream bar, and oversee setup and teardown for this April 5 event.

Senior Picnic Committee
We need a committee of parents to help liaison with the faculty on games, procure/rent things needed and recruit/coordinate volunteers for the big Senior Field Day & Picnic planned for April 12. The venue (Percy Warner Park) has already been reserved and the school is covering bus transportation. We’ve also already lined up the Holy Smokers to help run the grilling operation. But all the other details for the event still need to be organized.

Senior Sunset Committee
We need a committee of parents to help organize this event. The event will be May 17 and will include a “movie on the green,” determining games and food, booking a photographer, helping with set up and recruiting volunteers.

Senior Yard Sign Coordinator
We need someone to work with the graphic artist on design options, coordinate printing/production and distribution on April 5.

College Night (10/16/2023)

Join us for the second annual Hillsboro High School College Night on October 19, 6:00 to 8:00 PM. We will begin in the cafeteria with representatives from college access organizations and a local university who will give us an overview of admissions and financial aid opportunities. Then we will dismiss to the small gym, where you can visit with colleges and universities to learn more about what they have to offer. You will also have an opportunity to network with HHS parents who have “been there” in terms of navigating the college process, and you can pick up resources from HHS college counselor, Ms. Angela Gilmore! Whether you have a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior, this event will assist with reaching your student’s college aspirations!

College Night Volunteers Needed
If you have experience with the college process or just want to lend a hand, your expertise is needed! Please consider volunteering (sign up HERE) to make this a SUCCESSFUL event for our Hillsboro students and families.

October 17: ACT Testing (Volunteers Needed!) (10/16/2023)

Seniors will take the ACT at school on Tuesday, October 17. Every student in MNPS must take a college entrance exam (either the ACT or SAT) at least once in order to graduate, so if your senior hasn’t taken this test yet, it’s important that they do so. Parents, email Dr. Carter (susan.carter@mnps.org) if you can help with monitoring.
